In January we held public meetings to determine if there was an interest in the history of the Village of Kirkfield and its surrounding area, and if so, to undertake the necessary steps to start a Society for this purpose.

By the month of February we had installed an executive committee for made up of the President, Vice- President, Secretary and Treasurer and seven Directors at Large, who were charged with the task of getting the Society off the ground, by creating a constitution to include Aims and Objectives and By Laws. It was decided to affiliate with the Ontario Historical Society.

Their mandate is to unite the various pioneer and historical societies of the Province of Ontario in one central organization, which leads to better interaction and co-operation with other such societies. We felt that this was a mandate from which we could benefit. And we wish to stimulate an interest in the past, with artifacts, folklore and social history, and to encourage the preservation of historical, archaeological and architectural heritage within those archives for future generations. We want to find a permanent home for a museum where we can prominently display historical artifacts of the area.

By , we had achieved the first 2 goals and had obtained a temporary site for a museum. Due to extenuating circumstances, we operated without a museum in In , we received permission from St.

Andrew's Presbyterian Church to use the back of their sanctuary for museum displays. These displays continue to remain there.

For the Community

The St. Andrew's congregation was officially dissolved in October, The transfer of this magnificent historical edifice to the Society is now complete and the Society has full ownership.

At present, the Museum is a work in progress as we attempt to expand and enhance the displays and raise funds to keep the physical plant operating. We have charitable status. Your membership fees are tax credits.

Donations include artifacts of particular value for which receipts can be given. Susan Ewen Family Mediator Susan has been a family lawyer for 30 years and since she has represented children in the Family Court. Susan has been a mediator for 20 years and she has conducted over mediations. She assists parties to resolve matters effectively.

She holds mediations in the Waikato and other regions.
